We are excited to announce our next phase in the Orissa Children’s Home project – drilling borewell. With limited water resources, this borewell should allow us to tap into 40-100mts of underground water, providing the children with clean drinking water. We expect to be drilling, laying pipelines and an overhead tank within september. This phase will cost approximately 3,000 USD
In efforts to raise money for the borewell phase and spread awareness of kids.r.ok, our team in USA, headed by Rebecca Solomon, recently participated in the Warrior Dash held on August 2, 2014 in Morristown, NJ. It’s a 5 km (3.1 mi) obstacle course race meant to be an intense mental and physical challenge. All 12 participants struggled to overcome each of the 13 obstacles through hardwork, determination and teamwork. It was a reminder of what the children in Orissa and other parts of the world must overcome to realize their dreams. Team kids.r.ok did successfully finish the race with the support and enthusiasm provided by contributors and well wishers. This further signifies the work set out for our young, ambitious, growing charity and the help and teamwork required to reach our goals. Our greatest strength, currently, is word of mouth.
Kids.r.ok was able to raise 200 USD from family and friends, at the Warrior Dash. The children gave us a reason to never lose focus while training for the big day and motivated us to cross the finish line. However, we know this is only the beginning. Please join hands with us in helping these children. Kindly send us your contributions and help us raise awareness in your local communities, near and far.
We are looking forward to many more fundraisers in the near future. If you are interested in taking any part in future events or have suggestions, please do not hesitate in contacting us.
